It's not terribly complicated. The yoke on the front of the
driveshaft must be the same plane as the yoke on the rear of the
driveshaft. If the tow truck operator somehow allowed the shaft to
slide all the way out of the splines and didn't get the yokes lined
up when he reinserted the shaft, that could explain it.
Or, some yahoo might have taken a shortcut in reinstalling the
driveshaft and moved the yoke to line up with either the yoke on the
axle or the yoke coming out of the transmission.
