[diesel_mercedes] Car Prices

I can't find any mention of Beetles ever selling new for less than $1,300 .

The held to the $1,500 price for a long time , over a decade IIRC .

Max ;

It's not fair to blame your lack of proper maintenance for poor performance of that VW Beetle .

I grew up Down East and I well remember new Beetles , they were basic transportation yes but terrific snow cars and water tight in the terrible rains we had plus easy starters *if* you kept it in tune and changed the oil to a thinner weight just like you have to do with any other 6 volt car back in those days....

Same as Diesels in the Mid West in fact .

Graphite should do the trick just fine , that's the best lock lubricant .

If your key is an old original or a copy , I highly suggest you contact Tom @ The Classic Center wit your VIN ~ he'll sell you two more BRAND NEW ones delivered to your door , do this now before the key sticks and you get stranded .

All I found in my little town was graphite. These heaters in these cars work soooooooooooooo good. I think I could bake something in my car on the way to town. I didnt know it was that cold in Germany. I had a 63 VW bug what a POS, worst car ever built. Ok, Ok, if you are a California beach girl with Birkenstock s then maybe OK car, but in the north country, no way. Spent my first winter here with that car. 6V I had to get a 8V battery to jump it to start. Pedels froze to the floor as it got to -20 every single year in the 80's. I had to carry a propane solder torch to un stick the pedals. Sure glad someond invented Subaru, national car here back in the 80's, only 4wd car untill Toyota came out with the Tercell. Looking for a mild winter. It's been raining unbelievable for the dry side of Washington. Max

The resivoir cap is vented , no ? .

Once it dribbles out and it caught in the cooling fan's ' prop wash ' ~ you're in for some serious cleaning duty .

[diesel_mercedes] Lock Ease

I guess I should have known E-Bay would be the solution .

I had no idea so many different chains sold it under their own brand names .

It's kinda $pendy ~ the MoPar stuff (now called " Rust Penetrant ") is FAR cheaper and available at your local Chrysler / Jeep / Dodge / Etc. Dealer...

Part # 04318039AB

Maybe you can find it on E-Bay or Amazon .
