[diesel_mercedes] Fuel Mileage Check 1982 240D Slushbox

243 miles , AC used , mostly SWMBO driving around town .

Some freeway use with me driving , some extended idling in the 90° ~ 102° F heat , it's *very* nice indeed to sit in 65° comfort & read a book or listen to the radio whilst every one else is sweltering =8-)

[diesel_mercedes] Re: check valve to stop injector drain.

Could be ~ first I'd do a Diesel Purge then change the secondary fuel filter , those two things often have a profound effect on all facets of starting & running .

If that doesn't help , try a compression test before digging into the injection system .

Inferred temp sensor confirms heat.  Battery voltage drops.  Valve clearance good.  After a minute of cranking intermittently it starts and idles fine.  I'm thinking a check valve in the line before the lift pump should be a cheap fix. Don't want to ruin starter or battery.  Comments?  Lawrence Rhodes......

[diesel_mercedes] Glow plug Relays

Sounds right to me ~

I was thinking I'd take one apart and repair it but in the end , I have too much other works to do so I just tossed it out .

I recently removed quite a bit of spares from my CD's trunk , prolly 200 # worth .

I didn't used much , just the oil filters , fuel filters and hose ~ the rest was simply dead weight .

I took out the screw and both washers and really polished them back to new again along with the copper bottom of the relay itself. Put it all back together and I have not had to replace the fuse link since. It has been maybe 6 months of the 70A bar fuse holding without replacement.

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: A/C repaired and window regulator

Brian,

I went to VIP Auto Care which shares the building w/ Transmeister in Orange.
While I was getting my tranny serviced at Transmeister in the fall, I
talked to Dan at VIP about getting the air done.
It seems like a reputable place, and now the A/C is nice and cold.
I'd go there again, as Dan seems to know his stuff, and it's not too far
away from my house.

Yesterday, I went to the PAP and picked up the other rear window
regulator, so now they both close all the way, and don't
clunk-clunk-clunk at the top (from the missing teeth). There weren't any
123s in either OC PAP, yet there was a 116 which uses the same
regulator, though it has a different slide at the bottom of the glass
and a removable clip holding it in. I had to remove the slide from my
old one with a grinder, and then just clip it on the one from the 116.
Works great.

[diesel_mercedes] check valve to stop injector drain.

My 300 TD is taking a long time to crank and start.  I'm getting all glows to pop. Inferred temp sensor confirms heat.  Battery voltage drops.  Valve clearance good.  After a minute of cranking intermittently it starts and idles fine.  I'm thinking a check valve in the line before the lift pump should be a cheap fix.
