Typically mis - matching pinion teeth causes rapid destruction of the driven gear so no,
I'd not do that .
I've replaced a few W126 window lifts , the later design is better IMO, both are inter changeable in total, not by swapping motors with different tooth counts .

G asked :
I have a bad DS front window.motor in my 83 300SD. I see motor/regulator units with a different tooth configuration. I am considering replacing the entire unit since I can't find a motor. Does anyone know if a 9 tooth motor/regulator can replace the 14?
Thanks in advance.
