Hello Car Niters:
Oh, NO ! .
I saw him at the U.A. Theater two weeks ago, he was happy if looking a bit peaked .
Please share this with the Fellas Jer ~ I knew Don for decades, I met him in the 1970's and he was always helpful and friendly, knew I was a Mechanic and loved to banter about whatever project I was immersed in .
He will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to have met him .
I wish I could make the funeral, he always poked fun at my Metropolitan Nash FHC and Red Russian Motos, old clapped out VW's, raggedy shop trucks etc. he'd laugh and tell me he never saw anyone else driving/riding junk so fast
.

R.I.P. My Friend .

Hello Car Niters:
On Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 10:00pm, the great family man, racing legend, friend and all around good guy, Don Zabel, peacefully passed on to the great race track in Heaven. Don was one of the founding members of the Eagle Rock Tromper's Car Club, established in 1945. From the 1940's to the present, he would travel the entire United States to attend some kind of car race. I think he even thought the Los Angeles freeways were racetracks as he would be seen on one side of the San Fernando Valley and then soon after, see him in the Pasadena area. He loved to attend car shows, mingle with his incalculable amount of friends and take pictures with his 35mm camera.
Don's enthusiasm related to all makes of motor vehicle's, especially Fords, which lasted to his last breath on Earth. A special thanks to those members of the Eagle Rock Tromper's, who labored with tenacity and last week accomplished the feat of starting the flathead of Don's 32 Ford Roadster, in his presence, which brought the biggest smile to his face.
Please join his family and friends at his funeral on Friday, May 19, 2017 @ 12:00 pm at the Hollywood hills cemetery located at 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90068. http://forestlawn.com/find/# results
You are encouraged to bring your hot rod to the cemetery.
We have lost a 'one of a kind' man who's legacy lives on. RIP Don, you will be loved forever and will never be forgotten.
Please forward this email on to others who knew Don and would be interested in attending the funeral this coming Friday.
