[diesel_mercedes] W110 removing rear axle

67 200d

My dad and I are trying to remove the axle. After looking around on the web its common to have a small plate or access panel on the differential that you open up, push in the axle, and then remove a c clamp on the end. This allows you to just pull it off. However ours doesn't have that access panel, and with further research there are some without the clips on the end, which is what mine appears to be. In my case you use an access hole one the end of the wheel that allows you to screw off nuts and pull the axle out with a slide hammer. When we tried the slide hammer we couldn't get it to move at all.

[diesel_mercedes] Re: Bleeding woes on a 1980 300TD

Lawrence ;

Only ONE line bleeds , to to more you'll have to rotate the engine and pump some more....

Are you sure the glow plugs are working ? .

Valves adjusted ? .

Maybe use a hair dryer to put warm/hot air into the intake ? .

Once one cylinder begins to pop you should be able to keep cranking it , throttle to the floor as one after another cylinders, cut in.....

Now you'll know to nevr again install a partially filled secondary fuel filter .

Guess how I learned this ? I had the car die cross wise in my narrow side street for 30 minutes whilst I figured it out .

Wish I were there to help .

After a thousand pumps I can only get one cylinder to weep & pop.  Worn down the battery 3 times. Banjo on top of secondary blead.  Banjo on  engine side of injection pump blead. I am at a loss as to why it's so hard to fill the injector lines with fuel.  Original problem started when I was showing a newbie how to change the secondary filter.  I never have done it cold only (new filter was only half full) and then I allowed the newbie to start the car.  The engine stalled cause the newbie didn't floor it.  That is where I stand.  Any thoughts?  Lawrence Rhodes

Re: [diesel_mercedes] 400,000 Miles

I parked both my 240's for winter and got the Subie out of the shed. When I was unhooking the battery on my automatic I noticed it was from March of 03. Wow, that is really old for a battery. Only reason it could of lasted that long is the car has hardly been driven much. Max

[diesel_mercedes] Clamping the return line to prime the injector lines.

I have some problem getting the injector lines to weep.  Clamping the return line might expose the problem and get the fuel to the injector so I can then tighten the injector line and then start the 1980 300TD.  Lawrence Rhodes
