Trish:
I've been lurking here, reading all of your woes. I have a 1981 240D,
stick, that I bought to pull behind my motorhome as a "toad", and a 1984
300SD that I've had for about 6 1/2 years. The 240 is a great little
toodler that I often use as a daily driver. The 300SD, which I have
been daily driving now for the past couple of months, is, by far, the
finest car I've ever owned. My brother has 2 of them, a 1980 and a
1985. They are absolutely wonderful, safe, economical, luxurious cars.
You can take a road trip and, keeping your speed down, get 28-30 MPG.
That's not bad when riding in a big, comfortable, safe car. I won't go
into the details now, but there are numerous construction specifics that
make the 126 body Mercedes special. You won't find a nice one cheap,
but when you do, you'll love it.

[diesel_mercedes] Re: April's To Do List
It was 70s and sunny ALL last week and 2 days ago we had snow and cloud cover that lasted until this morning...Now that the sun seems to be re-appearing:
1) Brakes (rear pads & hoses, fluid flush)
2) install new primer pump (I got one of those metal ones that look like the older style)
3) purge and new filters
In May I hope to do a transmission flush, new filter and gasket, and replace the two cooler hoses.
I also need to fit in a coolant flush, at least 2 new tires (4 if I can scrape up the $) and alignment
Not to mention cleaning :)
I've got a full summer bonding with my gal Betty....

Or any other suggestions for a good vendor?
I see autoautohausaz.com asks $226; they have a good recommendation from a repair shop on our site...

My list is to swap out the original a/c condenser on my 82 240D with a new parallel condenser, swap out the old receiver/dryer, pressure sensor switch and expansion valve with new, remove blower and install new brushes, clean evaporator fins, get custom hoses made to reconnect condenser to system, vacuum system, add oil and refrigerant, and then drive somewhere on a hot day with the a/c running.
