O.K. ;

I bent the flusherginer antenna a couple hours before dawn and no amount of Tech writing , good coffee , garlic bagels etc, was going to allow me to relax and ignore it so every time I stopped and shut the car off , I'd look at the antenna , try to discern exactly where and by how much , the shaft was off centered , then I'd give it a *smack* with the palm of my hand in the opposite direction  .

After the third smack the antenna began to extend fully again and retracted further than it has for a good six months so I'm well pleased and will stop fooling with it and hopefully get the time to clean and lubricate it soon .

Maybe I just dodged a bullet .

Maybe .

[diesel_mercedes] Weepy Fuel Filter Fix

 



O.K. Brian ;

Here's the deal : the early typ has an aluminum crush washer under the 22MM head of the banjo bolt , this often leaks or weeps .

Wipe the oily dirt off the filter head and look at the part # ~ if it reads : 615 092 01 08 , it's the early typ  that uses the aluminum crush washer and IMO should be replaced with the 1983 > filter head P/N 615 092 02 08 , this one uses the two O-Rings in the banjo bolt , replace them before using it .

Some times you'll find an older 01 head with an aluminum crush washer , if so remove the washer and replace both O-Rings , you should be good to go .

These later fuel filter heads are a direct BOLT IN replacement for all 1977 ~ 1985 W-123's and W-126's , both OM616 (four cylinder) and OM617 (five cylinder) versions , maybe later models too , I have not checked .
