I have taken mine apart and put them back together, not an impossible task - but first, I would take my WD-40 and  squirt away for 2 days and see what happens.

[diesel_mercedes] Rear view mirror adjuster

 

 Both of my outside rear view mirror adjusters are broken on my W126, '83 300SD.  It looks like I should have oiled the little trip mechanism.  How do you fix them?  The last one broke when I met a truck that was going into the wind and there was no contact, just the bow wave of the truck.
