And will see if I can't make my own on some cardstock but meanwhile...my theory is Fuse 15 is my gremlin since first the rear dome wouldn't go out, now the rear doorlight, and my antenna doesn't seem to work. So I hope it's just the fuse.

Well, I drove all over Santa Fe (had to charge the battery, so why not) and eventually found them at 2 different places. Good news is I only spend about $11, bad news is I only got 10 white and it looks like I might need 13(?)

I'll try to snag some spares in the near future :) found a seller on ebay for 9.99 + $1.50 shipping (and I think 30 total fuses) but I didnt want to wait.

No help huh ? .

Dangit .

It's in my 1959 Metropolitan Nash FHC .

I now know it uses Dexron but I'm still not sure how to adjust the vacuum modulator , this is the fairly standard " JATCO " tranny , made under license from Borg-Warner , who calls it a 35 series automatic , BW developed it for Ford Motor Company back in 1949 , I knew all this but never learned how to fix slushboxes .

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: diesel why the cost, don't blame the tree huggers tho,, Ca. started all this with CARB

The difference on "on road" and "off road" Diesel is the road tax, only. As far as I know, nobody does not hydrotreat "off road" fuel and sell it separately. The dye is put in for ag and construction equipment use and there are fines for using the dyed fuel in road vehicles UNLESS you chump for a sticker for your windshield saying that you have paid the tax. Same with LPG vehicles.

[diesel_mercedes] Re: water leak

Yes I saw the video on youtube, and I intend to attack it the same way. After the information about the restraining clips, this weekend (Sunday because I will be at Texas Motor Speedway watching the races on Saturday)I will vacuum, compressor air blow, remove the screen and ensure all the drains are clear. (I hope)

Will have to fix when rain starts. The video shows that there is a seam that can leak in the area by the wipers. Has to be sealed and you will be good. Can someone post that video address again.

[diesel_mercedes] Re: water leak

yes I did a hose test last week and there is a small drip from the steering column. Has to be from north of that. After getting the alternator replaced, a new battery, and replacing the a/c drain tube, I have to now attack the source of the leak. I figure the easiest is the drains below the window. If not those, then the window seals are next.

Thanks
Chuck

I use one of those flexible tools that has a little claw on the bottom for picking up dropped bolts and washers, etc. If you keep the claw closed it functions as a nice drain cleaner (when used like a pipe cleaner). It is just the right length and diameter and is flexible enough to follow the drain channel. Sometimes have used the claw to extract a small branch or other piece of debris that won't push through.

To our newbies, here is a link for DIY work on w123 and w126 cars. A lot of the links are bad, but a lot of the links are good. I save these links in a folder called MB DIY, and will post a few as I run across them. http://tinyurl.com/426v7mn

PS - Here is the water leak link from Mercedesource http://tinyurl.com/3u353jx

and here is some of their sales pitch

"That's right! It is the dreaded water leaks - into the trunk - into the back seat floor - into the front carpet area - and you know what it is like having your windows all fogged up and having water drip off the underside of the trunk when you open it up!! Customers come to me all the time wanting me to fix their water leaks. As most of these cars are 20 plus years old they suffer from the same fate. The customer is always telling me to replace the trunk seal, or the replace the door seals or to replace his sunroof seals. But you know what? I have to convince him that that is not where the water is coming from. In 80 percent of the leaks I troubleshoot the water is coming through the front and especially the rear window seals. The rubber gets old and shrinks away from the glass with age and water wicks around the glass edge and into the car. I have tried re-caulking the seals only to have it last for a short period. The only way to solve the problem is the replace the seals with new soft rubber ones. I always have a good glass shop install mine. If I come in with the seal they usually charge $60 - $75 each to install. Now what I am offering you here is a complete seal kit. Included in this price are: front windshield seal rear window seal trunk seal PLEASE NOTE: ONLY the trunk seal comes with installation instructions. These are great quality seals made by Meyle. They are quite heavy so shipping will be a bit. Take care of those water leaks now so you can enjoy your ride again."
