My brake warning light comes on from time to time. It's real, I hear the grind every now and then. I just did a search on AutoHauz and thought I'd pose the question to those much more familiar with MB than me..on prior cars it's no big deal. I get lifetime warranty pads and I'm done. I see all sorts of options at AH. Anything I need to know that's different from any other car brakes?

Not me! I was the one in the hot pink tie dyed bikini that my sister got a picture of some really gross guy ogling...I was oblivious it but she swears he fell down looking.
When I lived there we had no traffic lights, no side walks, one movie theater, one grocery store, one fast food joint...A & W...then all of the big city people that wanted to "get away from it all" decided to bring it all up there and ruined the place.
In the 60's we had a tiny trailer (my bed was the dining table that lifted off the pedestal and slid into slots to turn into a bed, my sisters slept outside in the enclosed tent type area) up in Oak Creek Canyon at Indian Gardens just before the sand sculptures where my mom & her BFF sat on the bridge to fish for rainbow trout..that is if us kids weren't jumping off of it into the swimming hole. When it was time for dinner she had a whistle by the door she blew so dad knew it was time to come up from fishing. There was a roller rink across the street, but I was too young to hang with the older kids. :( Humph. In high school I'd hang out with kids who's parents owned the produce stand at Slide Rock, we had parties using smudge pots to keep warm. Ah those really were "the days".
My dad lived in Sedona for 15 years, and I visited often. Were you the naked lady they kept arresting at Slide Rock?brian from laverne, ca

My parents, both smokers, mom ciggarrets, dad a corn cob pipe, used to drag us all across the country. NO windows open. We did have a/c in our Turquois blue Olds F82. It was great. We stopped at Four Corners and stood in the middle of four states for pictures. Stopped at Stuckeys for fuel, potty breaks and junk buying. Saw everything from Phoenix, AZ to Honeycreek, Iowa then back to Lamar, MO. We camped all over AZ, dad put a board in the back going from the seat edge to the back of the front seat to make a bed for me, the baby of the family, everyone else got to sleep in the tent...I peed the bed..oops maybe that's why I had my own "bed"? We traveled all across the state of AZ, one sister got car sick on the winding roads near Prescott. What fun.
In 2003 Kevin & I drove from TX to AZ to get married (first for either of us!) at my dad's assisted care facility. My sister followed us! I took Kevin on the scenic route, I20 on the way there, I40 for the home trip, through Jerome the ghost town, on down to Cornville to see my dads property, up through Sedona to show him where I used to work, through Oak Creek Canyon to where we used to summer & fish, Slide Rock where we used to hang out and fish before it became a National Park, up through Flagstaff where I went to highschool the last time and where I learned to snow ski. Across Route 66 as much as possible of course. We stopped at all sorts of places along the way.
My sister has worn out two Hondas in her travels. One time her husband called her, "where are you?" "On the road" "WHICH road?" "Ugh, the highway." "What state are you in?" My other sister drove from Alaska to AZ and back again. I've been on the back of a Harley all across AZ and CO. My family loves the open road.
I'm looking forward to taking my "Rusty" on a road trip. Kevin is hoping to get off early next Friday so we can go down to Galveston to the beach for an over night camping trip. He'll need it to prepare for summer camp...the following Monday starts ten weeks of hell. One thousand kids show up every Monday and leave on Friday. He & his brother have to fix everything they break..."The door just fell off, we don't know what happened". It's so bad that the camp shuts down for a week off for everyone at the end of the ten weeks!
Yes indeedy ! .
When Tom and I were young , our Father dragged us off in his funny Peugeots all over the place , blistering hot , not allowed to roll down the windows (no AC) nor talk , he was a white lipped & white knuckle driver kinda guy , always angry but still and all 50 + years later , all of us kids still love The Open Road , we just don't freak out if a child needs to pee or wants a coke or to look at that whatever thing over there ~ you really should try it , if you're flexible , you'll have fun and meet new people , bond with your Children and learn many new things (stay out of Watts , Ca. when you're wearing a Mitt for Pres. button etc.)
I'd love to drive to max's and pick over his old TD's before they're rusted away and hauled off for scrap .

So ;
The wonderful , fabulous more than I ever expected out of a radio Becker Electronic in my '84 300CD went whacky recently , I love listening to the tappets and roar of my open exhaust yes but I also like the News & Views plus The Prairie Home Companion on the weekends
So yesterday I grabbed a newer , W-126 (gray display) Becker Electronic and popped it in the dash & set all the various AM/FM presets , it works fine although it doesn't seem to have a clock function , I know , there's a quartz clock in the dash binnacle , you're missing my point here but I digress .
This morning I took the old Becker apart and began cleaning the circitry inside the faceplate as I thought maybe that's the trouble since the display lights up every number & sign in it ~ I washed out an amazing amount of Diesel smoot , first I tried DEOXIT but that only gives a .003 second burst each time you pull the trigger so instead I cadged some radio electro - contact cleaner they use in the radio shop and washed that bugger silly , then I use canned air to blow it as clean as I could & dabbed gently at the residue with a lint free cleaning wipe......
It's now reassembled and awaiting me to try it again , if it's still dead I'll try another faceplate before scrapping it .
I'm told the newer Beckers are better in sound and remote signal aquisition , looking at the various buttons and antennae displays I believe it but I know and love the original typ green/yellow display models .
Somewhere I have stashed a nice European Spec. Becker Tom spotted in a '79 W-116 a few years back , i know i didn't sell/ toss it so one day it'll surface and I'll pop it in .
The Euro. Spec. radios have short wave bands .

Well ;
It must be summertime again as I got in my faithful Diesel Sports Coupe this morning @ 0-Dark:30 , outside it was nice so naturally the heater stuck full on no matter what button I pushed , wheels turned etc. so in time I gave up and opened the window....
The AC compressors should interchange yes but , if the bracketry is different , you'll need a different # belt ~ why not begin looking closely at underhood pictures of various other Mercedes Diesels until you find one that's *exactly* like yours and ask the owner what the V-Belt P/N is ? . FWIW , I too hate getting a bunch of new V-Belts that don't fit anything in my fleet but it happens sometimes .
Sometimes , an outlying or rural FLAPS will allow you to run in and out repeatedly trying on different V-Belts , obviously you'll need to shampoo the engine first as once it's oily , that belt can't go back on the rack for sale again...
So much of old Vehicle maintenance and repair , is just forcing oneself to s l o w d o w n & take however much time is necessary to sort out to - day's PIA adventure .

No the belt we have is from my original motor, it's too short. The a/c is also from the other motor, but should be fine from what I've researched.
