Re: [diesel_mercedes] interior door handles

Hello from Northern California, where Nate and I are chasing antique Chevy parts this weekend.  Far from any MBZs to look at as examples.

However, what you are talking about is a SIMPLE job.  Use junkyard parts, and the exercise of taking the castings off the junkyard car as a learning example.  I think that it's only two phillips head machine screws holding the casting to the door.  The door panel does have to come off (much easier on a 126 than a 123, but still not hard.

My interior door handles have been sagging so I pulled the covers off

is only a matter of time before the rest of the casting cracks do to stress.

Has anyone replaced these? Can it be done without stripping the entire
door? What are the options on parts sourcing?

Re: [diesel_mercedes] interior door handles

I have done that several years ago. Got replacement parts from PAP. Not a major problem as I recall. Just put things back the way you took them out. My guess is there are standard tutorials (Haynes, and a host of others), Hindsight = maybe I should have ordered a new replacement as mine still sags a bit, but it is my passenger side so not a big deal.
