In general , I have found that raising and safely supporting the vehicle so the suspension is un loaded makes the job far eaiser .
I imagine removing the wheel & tire will give you more room to work in too .
Please keep us posted on how it all goes , you may discover some handy tips to share .
You are correct, Factory Shop Manuals are all very nice but every one assumes you're an experienced Journeyman Mechanic who's also had extensive Factory/Dealer training so they usually skip the details like : "DON'T KILL YOUR SELF BY USING CONCRETE BLOCKS ! " and other helpful comments .
