.This is in my Sweets 1982 Mercedes 240D Sedan ~ I got a load of bad Diesel Fuel a while back and have been chasing it ever since .
Most anti - fungus treatments for Diesel Fuel shock the fungus to death leaving your system clogged with chunks and bits of crud that can damage the fuel injectors , clog the fuel filters and so on .
Startron by Starbrite is an enzyme developed for marine use where having the Diesel engine suddenly stop running in the middle of the ocean can be a deadly disaster .
What it does it eat the fungus and what it passes through is a super fine black silty substance that so fine it passes through the fuel system into the engine is burned and goes out with the exhaust .
This has the additional effect of cleaning every bit of your fuel system when you use it .

Maybe the Startron is getting the gold plated contacts in the fuel sender fully clean at long last .
I got down to 1/4 tank with no low fuel lamp lit , a while later when the needle hit R the low fuel lamp flickered and then remained on as it did back when first I bought this car .
I then drove just over 40 more miles before filling it up so all is well for now, hopefully to remain this way a long time yet .
