[diesel_mercedes] Flexible Fuel Filler Hose

Thanx Bill ;

I'm hoping for a new one......

I took the *perfect* Poly tank out of a nice (it was until it got junked anyway) '79 D200 , it was the  *exact* tank I needed , of course the Yard Apes drilled TWO 3/4" holes in it for draining so it's ruined , I got the filler neck and fuel gauge sender and hardware etc. plus the perfect AC fan motor and I even found a nice locking gas cap that works with the old key in our truck....

Then I headed over to the European section and stripped a few things off a 1980 W-116 300SD , little minor bits and hardware , they're getting ready to crush it and the injection pump was still in it so I grabbed the elements and discharge nozzles , I believe mine are kaputi so now I can tinker and experiment with my work out I.P. and if I kill it , no loss , I already have a good used one I picked up last year .

I also grabbed the fuel pressure by pass discharge valve , this has a ball bearing and coil spring typ of pressure release valve , it's supposed to open @ 15 # but most are dirty and / or have weak springs so my loose plan is to tinker with it and see if I can maybe shim the spring a tiny bit , everyone who has 15 # bypass pressure tells me their engine has more zip , I grabbed the banjo bolt that this valve dumps back into the secondary fuel filter with (the spin on fuel filter) , I think I can drill and tap it for a pressure gauge with a 1/4" NPT thread so I can read the (I.P. fuel transfer) pressure as it's running and see what's going on .

I also removed the E.G.R. valve and fooled with it a bit , they're pretty simple but tend to have lots of oily carbon sludge in them , I want to take mine off and fiddle with it , make sure it's closing tight , then I can adjust it to open a bit later , giving me more power , better fuel economy and so on.... being a German car , naturally it's adjustable =8-) .

After  a few hours in the Junk Yard I got hot , cleaned up and went home , took three doors of my '84 Wagon apart and removed the door checks , it turns out some boob was in the doors before and removed one 13MM (appx) ball bearing from each door check , that's why they're not working , making horrible noises and occasionally freezing up when the doors are open....... .

One of the flat straps you see in the door jamb , we actually BENT ! if I ever catch the fool who hurt this poor old Wagon .

I took the last set of three door checks I bought and carefully cleaned them and re lubed using the WWII Surplus rifle grease and installed them on the front and R.R. doors , those doors now open and close like they did when new , I found some DPO/DPM had been very sloppy and damaged little things , used incorrect hardware etc. so I still have work do do inside the doors then I'll need to clean them Hospital clean including the drain holes and figure out what to use for new plastic barrier sheets , naturally they're all gone missing too .

Always something to do , right ? . at least I'm not bored  . .

There was more , it was a busy day off but you get the gist of things .

Oh yes , as I was cleaning up after servicing and installing the three door checks I bought last week , of course I found the box full of them I'd misplaced......   .

What a goof , right ? .

I replaced both inside front door release pulls too , SWMBO gets upset if they're wobbly like so many are .

 THANX Bill ! .

I tried all those , body , fuel / air , engine , emissions , exhaust , anything I could  think of , even the RD and W(4X4) series .

FLAPS just laughs , only a few Countermen even know what the heck I'm asking for .

The City's upper echelon boobs used to hassle me for stocking this stuff , i ran the night shop and of course , that's when they needed it the most : @ 0-Dark:30 in the middle of a broken sewer line job or something....

Guess who was the _only_ person in the entire City of Los Angeles who tried to keep fuel filler hose in stock , pre charged all the time ? .

Notice there is a D200 and a RD200; next they ask for engine size. Your turn

I will guess they’re expensive.

If it is flexible, pull it off and go to FLAPS. They can probably come up with a close fit; then cut to fit.

That will also cost bucks, but not as much as the Mercedes equivalent.

Because you alls are not posting much , feel free to use your DELETE button now , no whining ! .

I worked on Tom's 1979 dodge D200 crew cab service bed truck all day Friday , getting it road worthy again and I need some help finding the fuel filler neck hose for it's Utility brand service bed ~ it needs to be flexible and flexible filler hose is like looking for chickens teeth .
