Mr. pot head foster boy may need to reconsider where he's going to lay his head in the future. I feel for you. You sound like caring people.Boy howdy does that photograph bring back memories of the 1960's ! .
In New Hampshire we had two 1963 Chevy K10's ~ (K means 4WD, 10 means 1/2 ton) one was a blue / white shortbed stepside, t'other was a black/white Suburban . both had 250CID i6 engines and Muncie SM465 four speed, compound low manual trannies, I spent hours and hours late at night riding shotgun in the Suburban plowing snow, Delco AM radio playing WWII tunes softly, tranny whining quietly as the flakes drifted down .
A very bucolic memory from a wildly chaotic life .
So, the pot head Foster boy plugged in his 'surround sound' thing , leaving it to charge up whilst laying on a cotton towel next to a bunkbed made up with highly flammable Chinese comforters etc., then he went out to get high, luckily SWMBO asked our 11YO Foster boy to go close all the windows as the night was coming ~ he looked in this bedroom and saw the bed aflame, ran to tell her and she grabbed the baby (our 2YO greatgrandson) , fled the house and called 911 and me ~ I came as fast as I could .
The entire house (4BR, 2baliving & dining plus big play room) was filled with heat and smoke, the firemen vented the roof in three places then pulled down the ceiling in that room plus broke holes in most other rooms allowing the blown in cellulose (basically wood) insulation to come into the house with the water they sprayed so now everything in the entire house is heat, smoke or water damaged beyond use .
The ins. co. says we'll be back in by June or be on our own.....
No one was hurt, SWMBO had a fit thinking her 300TD was going to burn up in the garage, they refused to let her get it out, as far as I can see the garage didn't even get warm and it's 10' from the back of the house .
It's all boarded up now, we'll meet the ins. co's inspector there Wed. 12.27 and go from there .
Life continues apace .
The pothead who created this mess, hasn't yet said 'I'm sorry' and he nearly killed my Sweetie and Kai.
I went back to - day to salvage my smoky but clean clothes from the closet, I'll try washing them to get the smoke out .
I had to wear the same clothes and undies for _three_days_ (ugh) .
