[diesel_mercedes] Re: Evil Klima I Servos

I think I have the next generation of those parts in my 1984 300D. I think I get coolant flow through the heater core even when it's supposed to be shut off. I rebuilt the firewall valve a couple years ago but maybe it's not working right. I was thinking about installing some plumbing valves under the hood to shut it off all summer. Doesn't much matter if it leaks a little in the spring, fall and winter. Or maybe I should revisit that valve. Suggestions appreciated.

Re: [diesel_mercedes] 81 240D Radiator

Brad,

I am not the expert, so take this with a grain of salt.

The Mercedes Turbo engines had an integrated overflow tank.  So get that when you get the radiator.  It will be difficult working out a place for it, etc.  But it will help your radiator do a better job, because it helps remove bubbles from the cooling system.

(On Ford pickups, the name for it reflects that it is removing bubbles.  Trying to adapt one form a Ford pickup would be difficult, but the one from a Mercedes Turbo should be easy to adapt and worth the effort.)

My 1981 240D needs a radiator. It has a manual transmission so I do not have to worry about tranny lines. The AC has not worked for decades so that is not an issue. The one and only Mercedes in the local pick a part is a 1983 300SD. Will that fit my 240? Did Mercedes do anything like change the location of the hose fittings.

Thanks, Brad

[diesel_mercedes] Re : Passenger Side Mirror

Bill ;

What year model is your W-123 ? .

They changed the base of the mirror in mid 1981 (?) so there's an early and late version of the popular passengers side mirror .

Mercedes manuals are always popular (with me), but what I really, really need is a passenger's outside mirror. Daisy has none and it drives me crazy when I have to back up. Location would be helpful.
