Re: [diesel_mercedes] Which bushing to choose for '80 300SD?

I have some of those plastic shift parts in my parts tubs.  But, a word of advice - when guessing amongst a bunch of choices, it is a cheap telephone call to Classic Centers "Tom" to get the right part for your car. They can do it vin numbers if necessary, and rarely do they have to guess.

Trish,

The first and last on the AutoHauz are clearly something else.  The middle one on AutoHauz list is for that rod ya'll are trying to figure out how to get to work.

Nate has a point about the lack of a discount on MB, so that leaves the Peach part for the shift bushing.

Take this with a grain of salt - I have never looked at it - but I am really interested because mine needs replacing.

[diesel_mercedes] Re : Rusty Gulf Cars

No , it isn't ;

I get to see lots and lots of therm as Florida folks know to check so they wind up on Flea-bay or in low end used car lots all across the SouthWest ~

I doubt it's a rain issue , more like high humidity coupled with the entire State being narrow and mostly surrounded by sea water so even the fog is corrosive .

Plus of course, there's scads of flood damaged cars ever year .

Remember : this is my job and I take used car sales very seriously .

BEWARE of Florida cars .

It certainly _looks_ nice but , Florida cars tend to have rust issues and I can see the headlights will need immediate polishing or new lenses to be safe to drive at night .

DO NOT bid on nor buy , ANY car off Flea-Bay unless you have personally looked at it before hand ! .

Get the VIN & pay CARFAX for a title check .

The contention that Florida cars tend to have rust issues is California propaganda.  While it rains more in Florida than Ca. that doesn't seem to have affected the cars I've seen down there and unless they are regularly parked in the surf salt spray isn't an issues.  If you want rust, try the northern states.
