Court of Last Resort - penetrating oil. Kind of like being constipated, whatever works for you is best. I once had an old wind up clock with rusted (frozen) mechanism. Sprayed (soaked) WD40 in it, and voila, some 30 years later it is still ding donging. I know, I know, be careful and don't use it on most things - for when you have to decide between the scrap heap or penetrating oil, why not?
