The deal is Henry :
When you're well & truly drafting , you're so close that by the time you respond to his brake lights going on , you've already hit his back bumper.....
As a matter of fact , I have occasionally drafted , on my 1994 Ural Tourist 650 Moto it struggles going over steep freeway grades like The GrapeVine etc. so if I see a Cal Trans truck , I'll usually get right on his left rear corner where I can see him looking at me in his mirror ~ if he gets upset or waves me off I back right off but usually they watch me for a moment then continue zizzing over the mountain @ 75 MPH , me drafting along with them .
Back in the day folks would call on OTR Truckers on the CB Radio and ask permission then get 1' off the back bumper , shift into neutral and be dragged halfway across America .
No matter what you do , drafting is
EXTREMELY dangerous .

seems, though, you'd be hard pressed to find a truck that could "stop
suddenly" enough to be hit by our cars, stopping distances and all. It'd
be human error, if it happened, IMO.
