My friends (and Dad) think I am awesome :) but I am a green behind the ears newb! I've got to change the brake lines back there and flush the fluid next...and I also noticed my right rear CV boot finally cracked open (that I"ll likely hire my guy Thom for). Such a long to do list...and I didnt get to work on it much while it was warm...

Re: [diesel_mercedes] After 40 years my coupe lost it's virginity today

Easy parts to replace, and a new complete tail light assembly is readily available. Call or email me for pricing, etc. thomas.hanson@mbusa.com .

There was deep red everywhere......on the ground, in my eyes.....dripping onto the asphalt.

There must be a special place in hell for the person who took my coupe's innocence.

My passenger side tail light has been destroyed. In the parking lot some thoughtless person backed into my 82 turbo and mangled my lens. Looks like that may be the extent of the damage, I can't see any sheet metal that was effected, but the lens, chrome surround and inner lens cover are all trashed. HELP.....

So, how many pieces are there to this assembly? My reflector panel and light mounting assembly might be just bent, but the rest is going to need replacing.

Where is my best parts source? Any reason I can't fix this myself if I can find replacement parts?

Happy Thanksgiving to you all.  This group is something to be thankful for.

If I bought one of these, I would take it to a decent rebuilder and have it gone over before I put in into my car. I'd tell them to make extra sure there are no dead spots on it. IMHO the best way to deal with these starters is have the one you remove from your car rebuilt by a good shop. The rebuilt ones from FLAPS are not good from my experience. Rebuilt by amateurs.
