[diesel_mercedes] 83 240D Fuel Economy

 

Nate,

I just tanked up my 83 240D w/4 speed manual. Easy driving, no A/C (doesn't work), 70% surface streets, 30% highway.

Miles: 1022.9
Fuel: 28.881 gallons
MPG: 35.418
Cost: $3.539/gallon

I was avoiding filling it up because of the clogged vent. I realized that I could leave the cap loose, but fuel would come out if it was too high. So this morning I took card of the vent and do went and filled it up (at my local Home Depot).

I've been keeping track of distance and fuel since I bought the car in February 10th this year. I've driven just over 8000 miles and averaged 35.3mpg. But then I drive like an old lady twice my age. :-)

[diesel_mercedes] A/C compressor replacement

 

  My 1985 300SD compressor seized up.  I found parts geeks, they have 3 or 4 different ones, that they seem to claim will work.  I know you guys here have the intelligence to know what WILL work.  Well, that is one of the choices, anyways..... GPD is the manufacturer, whoever that is?  Will it replace the one I have now, without fabricating brackets or anything?
