Datsun Motor Co. began business in 193? building Austin products under license, the 'B' series BMC licensed engine was the one used in millions and millions of imports and forklifts into the 1990's ~ all they did was build it to specification, no re design necessary .

Datsun PL cylinder heads bolt directly to MGA's, MGB's and a zillion A50's and derivatives and they don't have the normal cracking & valve seat failures, proving the design was excellent, only the failure to have any reasonable quality control in England, was the problem .

You're right about shoe size, too. I said (often) that I'd never own driving shoes or driving gloves and with the Morgan I need both. My 10EE feet barely fit with narrow driving shoes, which are woefully uncomfortable on arrival wherever we're going. Without he gloves, it's even more difficult to turn the steering wheel, especially on tight turns.

This depends a lot on how your body is formed ~ before my back troubles I was 6'1" tall and never had any problems fitting into tiny vehicles ~ I'm still 6' even and pretty much fit O.K. in spite of my fat gut .

My size 12 feet, on the other hand mean I must wear smaller shoes than I'd like .

I like to drive with the window open so over the years I've learned to like driving gloves .

However, they're very $pendy so instead I buy cheap cotton work gloves with friction dots on the palms and inner fingers or mesh work gloves with rubber coated touching surfaces, usually $1 and always nice as they breathe well tet keep the cold drafts off my hands .

Then at the body shop they slashed the new top to break into the car in spite of it being unlocked and maps and loose wires hanging out of the radio hole in the dash board...

 I was in a junkyard close to Jer's house the other day and spotted his doppelganger sitting in a chair.... came face, clothes, hat and whiskers....

It's Friday morning and the body shop just called me to say my little truck should be ready by 4PM ~ I told them to call back when it's actually ready .

Shirley says she'll give me a ride over there to pick it up .

[diesel_mercedes] LKQ Pick-A-Part Junkyard Finds

 

As I paraphrased :

Even a dead pig finds the occasional truffle, right ? .

I've been pulling blower motors out of nice looking W123's for years, I gave up last year but when I noticed a shiny new TORX screw holding the blower motor to the black plastic cover I decided to give it a try .

Even if these calipers don't work properly, they're the correct brand/ typ to exchange for rebuilts .

Plus of course all the little things, I got some extra taillamp bulb sockets and black / red tracer wires, I want to use the unused places on the taillamps to add LED stop light bulbs, too many times I see folks closing too rapdily when they're looking at their cell 'phone .

Can't use LEDs alone in the brake light circuit because the cruise control needs the resistance of the incandescent bulbs to work .

The funny thing is : on the Pelican forum is a guy who lives near the two South Bay LKQ's, he's always whining about no W123's in junkyards but flat refuses to go look there, even when I tell him what he's looking for is there right now .
