[diesel_mercedes] Touring/Rallying Aid

Max ;

A while back I found a discarded " Garmin " GPS device and got it working, added it to my rally car and found it wonderful .

Mostly because I no longer have to slow down and read stret signs anymore ~ I just blast along and glance at the map as it scrolls by and turn when the corner shows up .

It also tells me how fast I'm going , what direction is North, even the elevation if I set it for that....

Max,

Nate told you.  "per the GPS"

Driving 5 MPH takes a lot of patience.

Two things resonate with me: In 1971 my fully loaded 1970 VW station wagon got down to 5 mph cresting the rockies in Colorado. But, once over the top, we rolled into Estes pedal to the floor. And I sat on a chair last week, that for some unknown reason deposited me on the floor too.

[diesel_mercedes] Road Trippin'

Brian ;

Gotta be really careful about falls ~ a broken hip over the age of 60 is a really serious thing .

I've had quite a few vintage VW Vans back when they were just ' old VW's ', i had several that had the tiny 36hp engine boy howdy were they slow .

I'm looking at a 1963 Beetle, we'll see how that goes .

It has a 1970 (one year only) B case single port 1600 C.C. engine and has been partially converted to 12 volts .

I drove the 240D to Golden Cove this morning for the monthly British Car Gathering, it went over Palos Verdes @ 35 ~ 45 in fourth gear....

Only smokes at idle so far, I'm keen to get it fixed .
