This group provides a forum for owners and operators of diesel powered motorhomes and 5th wheel tractors to discuss mechanical issues, regulatory issues (US, Canada), ownership, insurance, campground accommodations, trip reports/suggestions, and other topics relevant to large RVs and the people who drive them.

Mercedessource exists primarily because I like to solve problems. It gives me great satisfaction to come up with a repair kit or tool that makes maintenance easier and less expensive. One of my all-time favorites is my seat spring repair kit. It now seems simple, but it took over three months of trail and error to find the best solution. In the past few weeks, I have been working on two specific kits: 1. To solve the problem of sagging and deteriorated seat padding on the older models. 2: A easier and less messy way to apply silicone lubricant to rubber and plastic parts. I have just posted these new kits on my website. Check them out by following the links below:

Coming in next newsletter. You won't believe what the cat dragged home! How did I end up with FOUR W126 300SD's and what in the world am I going to do with them! :-)
Comfortable and squeak-free motoring always,

1) You had a good start - unplug the vacuum shutoff.
2) from the plastic covered junction box on the right inner fender you can energize the starter solenoid with a pair of needle nose pliers or a sort piece of wire.
The top comes off from one end and s hinged on the other.
There are three screws with wire terminals in that box. Jump the smaller screw to either of the two bigger screws and the starter will engage and turn the engine.
3) Heat the plugs first. If the plugs are the older serial type there will be a wire at the tip of the #4 plug. connect that to the battery to heat the plugs.
10 seconds should do.
If they are the later parallel type each plug tip has to be connected to the battery to heat them. again 10 seconds.
To summarize:
Take it out of gear first.
pull the vacuum shutoff hose from the IP
Heat the plugs.
Jump the starter at the plastic box.
