[diesel_mercedes] Silvia 4 sale soon: 1984 300SD - 300K mi

 

First rights of refusal to this righteous band of diesel fanatics, I am at car capacity and Silvia has to go. She survived two years of flight school at Florida Tech in the caring hands of my son while returning her for one last visit to its port of arrival, Melbourne, FL. 


Still in good running condition - still gets ~25MPG, comes w/ heaps of spare parts salvaged from donor and a stack of maintenance and parts receipts to make any junk yard parter-outers drool.  


Will be figuring out how to properly present it for sale (EBay?) and not expecting a lot on an open market for it, but want to make sure this group has dibs. All serious inquiries considered, would prefer whoever gets it takes the whole lot as is at what we mutually agree is a fair price. Seems so simple. :-)


Car is currently registered/insured/driven in MA (01460 area code) and inspected through July 2016, should pass and will re-inspect on Aug 1.


Please reply direct and will send more details/photos as/if desired..traveling through US for most of July - will respond as soon as I can.

[diesel_mercedes] 240D Engine in Jeep CJ7

 



O.K. ;

It's been like 35 years since I worked for Jeep so pardon if I make mistakes here , O.K. ?.

IIRC the CJ7 was the InLine 6 cylinder derivative ? .

I agree , for actual no nonsense off roading , a four cylinder is prolly the best option .

Not sure about the  manual gear box though as the last Jeep I drove was a 1952 M38A1 in 196? m, it had the four cylinder F-Head engine , very robust and trouble free but one hell of a stiff clutch .

The door opening in your good looking Jeep looks  longer than I remember Jeeps having ~ is this because it's an '81  or a CJ7 ? .

Agreed on the engine and tranny. We had a 1948 Willys Overland station wagon when I was growing up; about 1950 thru the 1960’s. A very faithful companion. Bill in Oregon
