[diesel_mercedes] Re: Vacuum connected to heater blower motor 240D?
There's a vacuum operated power relay , I wasn't aware the 240D's with manual HVAC controls used it though ~ look for a green plastic pipe , that's the HVAC vacuum feed .

The usual stuff happened...door locks, engine shutoff, but also, the heater blower motor would not work. I thought the vacuum was a separate system in the 240D. The 240D has cables to operate everything in the heater and a/c system, doesn't it? Anyhoo, when I replaced the vacuum tube, the blower motor started working again no problem. So my question is, how does a vacuum outage cause the heater blower motor to not work?

_CHECK_ it the next time you do a valve adjustment ~ if it's over 3 degrees off , it needs replacing .

[diesel_mercedes] Re: I learned humility early on
A _GREAT_ story Chip .
I love zizzing my Metropolitan Nash Fixed Head Sports Coupe through the local twisty mountain roads with some Sports Car folks , they all run away in the straight bits but I easly keep p in the twisty bits , until my driving exuberance overcomes the car's ability and I break off yet another wheel and grind to a halt.....
They're (mostly) stil impressed I can out drive them .

It did not run, but it did crank and the old gas smell overpowered the wonderful leather seats aroma. 3 minutes later I was 30 minutes from that garage that housed my dream, 4 hours later the 190SL was on the back of a car hauler coming home to me.

[diesel_mercedes] Power Service Cetane Boost
Most here know our '82 240D has well over 300,000 hard miles and low compression in one cylinder , this causes a miss @ idle so it shakes and chugs a fair bit .
Recently I ran out of Power Service's wonderful Cetane Boost for two tankfuls and the chugging and shaking was bothersome , as well as the fuel economy dropped to the low 20's .
After filling it up and adding 3 Oz. of Cetane Boost , it now runs perfectly smooth again , it's smply amazing how much this stuff helps .
@ only 3 Oz. per fillup , remembering I only fil it when the gauge reaches below the 1/4 mark , I feel this is veru co$t effective as it also raises up the fuel mileage .
Yry it , I think you'll like it .

[diesel_mercedes] Vacuum connected to heater blower motor 240D?
