I'm glad it'll be an easy fix (relatively).
I've known there's a right way and a wrong way to install these things, but every time the job's come up, I've been unable to remember exactly which way it should go. I guess I've been lucky so far, too....

Thanks for the suggestion to check the driveline. Carrier bearing is still solid. But the front guibo was toast. Apparently it matters which holes go to the tranny and which to the driveline. There are thick sections and thin ones. These are stronger in compression that tension and pushing through the thick section is more better than pushing through the thin ones while pulling the thick ones.I have removed and reinstalled these dozens of times over the years and apparently luck failed me this last time when the front one vaporized. Color me relieved and happy.
