Those two ivory colored Mercedes are Tam's big S Klasse and my Sports Coupe ~ both are turbo charged Diesels .

You have such beautiful Grand Children ~ we're all very lucky this way .

Hi Tony, you buried in snow yet? On my diesel generator, which I run very often in winter, I have to use a lit propane torch blowing into the air intake to get it to start, other wise no way.  Ha, ha, just noticed the "sent from Mexico" part of your post. Well, I am buried in snow now. Max

Some Caterpillar engines have a heater coil in the air box, so they are starting using warm air.

Is a possible method.

Yea well, my pal paid $50K for one with 22K miles. I could not afford the tax or the insurance so I think I will keep my 240's and the winter Subie  for now. Max

Does anybody know how these new diesels start? My friend just bought a new Sprinter 4WD . He was here for a visit and in the morning it was like 2 degrees. He went out and turned the key and presto it started. No glo, no nothing, just like a gas car. How do they do this? If I had to start either one of my 240's like that, they would not. I can always get them started but it takes a while. Max

At least take some comfort in her being wiling to drive an old VW.......

I went back for a second day of cleaning and worked until after sun set, still not finished ~ the oily old mung is like taffy .

At least I discovered a better de greaser but the work remains the same, not really hard just time consuming and repetitive .

Yesterday I over slept due to sore shoulder and when I arose with the sun it was raining here in Sunny So. Ca. so I took the day off .

It's still raining to-day Wednesday 12.22 , might rain until Christmas Eve, we'll see .

I've had several 1968 Beetles, that was the last year for swing axle transaxles in North America .

I have now seen a few Mercedes 'Sprinters' and they seem to go 300,000 + miles on one engine so they're prolly pretty good .

A buddy bought a battered old Sprinter and used it to haul Racing Motocycles and do chase duty on Moto events, it looked fairly rough (dents, peeling cheapo respray) but seemed to be very reliable .
