I had terrible oil leaks oaking the whole engine from th rockerbox oil mist tube on the '82 240D until I bought the rubber 90 degree boots , then it stopped spweing oil everywhere .
Apparently there's a fair bit of oil going into the separator , once you get everything sealed up , it just works like it's designed to and the excess oil runs down the tube from the separator back into the crankcase .
Most Merceds Partshaus' have them cheaply , as does The Classic Center then your local dealer .
