For a W-123 although I expect a W-126 or W-116 one would work...

My fan cut  a hole in mine and I have to remove the radiator & AC Condenser to affect repairs so now's the time to replace it .

In case anyone has one or spots one in a So. Cal. junkyard , please let me know and I'll go get it .

TIA ,

-Nate

Thanx Brian ;

It appears we got in just before the final wave....

All the older Mercedes Specific Junk Yards in L.A. are closed or crushed their older cars for lack of interest...

Please let me know if you find one , must be un cracked , un damaged .

TIA ,

-Nate

I have not walked the 3 yards I visit in several months. But I have to see the doctor next week for my annual check up and she will ask me if I am walking, so I think I will take my $2 x 3 =s $6 walks (still cheaper than a gym membership). The number of MB's has been pretty disappointing in the past several years. I can never forget the really nice 1983 w123 I saw in Ontario 3+ years ago. It had just been dropped and I pulled a few things off thinking I could always go back. What a mistake - I should have camped out and stripped it bare.

[diesel_mercedes] Charging

Dean ;

To test the dash light & circuit : unplug the alternator and turn the key one , ground the thin blue wire at the alternator plug ~ if the night comes on , all is well in the dash and harness , no need to take it apart .

I found another person on the web that had purchased the same 'unit'? at walmart.  I went to walmart.com and did not find it.   I did find this on deal extreem, and I think it would please those who want this type.

I prefer this one, but it is a bit more $

My '83 300D also doesn't charge.  I replaced the brushes and nothing.  I was about to take out the alt to have it tested, but did get voltage 'once' so I know it is good.   I DO have the junction box and all connections are clean and tight.   I started tearing into the dash because I read on a google search that if the charge light doesn't work, that it won't activate the ALT.

During my dinking around, that is when I did get 14v but later i tried again and it was back to no charge.  The light is not visibly on to look at it normally, but cupping your hands around it and shoving your face on it, you can see it barely glowing.........

Anway that was a few months ago.  It sits and we have been driving the SDL.

[diesel_mercedes] Cheapo RED L.E.D. Charging Tester

You're welcome Bobby ;

As I said , there's nary a maker's mark anywhere on it...

I have zero recollection of where I bought it , all it does is light up red LED's with the vo9ltage , IMO it's a fairly useless / worthless thing but I use it occasionally as a quick check tool else I'd give it to you .

Maybe Pep Boys ? ORielly's or Autozone ? I'm pretty sure I bought it in a rush at some FLAPS .

If I can figure out hot to hold it and the iPod , I'll snap a pic of it working , you won't be impressed .
