Check this site out from Diesel Power Magazine about a 1997 Dodge Ram 3500 Dualie that is getting 30 mpg. The truck only used about $10.00 in parts so I am inclined to believe it. Basically, it is all about aerodynamics. Makes me want to invest in some duct tape so i can start taping up a lot of stuff.

[diesel_mercedes] for Henry
Hey send me a message. Your stuff turned up over on Lopez Island. I just sent you a message to your address in my e-mail account, but it came back. Maybe you changed yours? Max
[diesel_mercedes] Re: advice
I agree with Brian, any difference in mpg plus or minus will be almost insignificant. Buy what you enjoy driving. My 300sd always gets 25-27 mpg, and the car rides best on the freeway at 85 mph, and being 6'3" it fits me.

I have a high pitched metal to metal knock or klunk when stopping the engine on
the 240D 1977. Sometimes on a left turn. Sometimes when stopping Sometimes
when accelerating. Always when turning off. Is the test to put a jack under
the engine lift and see which mount seperates?? Is the third mount at the
transmission tail mount? The noise is comming from the right front area. I did
some doughnuts in the parking lot and I couldn't recreate the noise. However I
am starting to worry. Lawrence Rhodes.......
