[diesel_mercedes] What's up with U.S. gasoline prices? | ExxonMobil's Perspectives Blog

At the AutoZones around here, the house brand is still under $3 a quart.  It's even less if you buy it by the "5-Plus" quart bottle.

I thought oil was made there on the Texas gulf coast.  You should be paying way less than me...!

RE: [diesel_mercedes] Euro headlamps on the W116 300SD

The only air for the turbo comes in through the air filter.  Are you saying there's no air going into the air filter?

Ok so everyone is aware I picked up that 79 300SD and am in the midst of redoing the head (head in shop, had starter rebuit, doing the Mercedessource turbo rebuild this weekend).

At any rate, the previous owner put Euro headlamps on it. Looks great but one thing...air for the turbo cut off. Any thoughts as to the practicality of keeping the Euros on it or should I go back to the US Spec rounds so air gets in the turbo?

My 2 year old 3 gallons has been out doors in an enclosed trailer but looks normal, no bad smells, nothing growing.

Thanks

What's the max age for wvo?  I have people offering me oil left in there garage for up to a year. I personally have a 2 year old left over from a deep fried turkey. I have a centrifuge so cleaning is not the issue. Anything break down or go bad in this stuff?

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Klunk sometimes.

Yes, sounds like mounts. Does the engine rock around a lot? Try shutting
it down with the shut off on top of the engine, and see/ hear what's
happening. Then change those mounts...

Check this site out from Diesel Power Magazine about a 1997 Dodge Ram 3500 Dualie that is getting 30 mpg. The truck only used about $10.00 in parts so I am inclined to believe it. Basically, it is all about aerodynamics. Makes me want to invest in some duct tape so i can start taping up a lot of stuff.

Just for comparison, even though the computer drives me to distraction and I much prefer the old style  mechanical pump, my 2003 Sprinter low height st'd wheelbase loaded with about 750# of tools gets 28MPG as long as I keep it under 70 mph.
