Hopefully I won't any time soon .

I've told my Son to just cremate me or donate my body to the medical school for their use, it's worn out and useless now, won't be worth anything once I'm dead .

	This late production Model Year 1970 280 SL was sold new in southern California to a brand enthusiast who kept the car until February 2014 when it was purchased by Mercedes-Benz Classic in remarkable rust-free condition. The subsequent, complete "nut-and-bolt" restoration by Mercedes-Benz Classic covered all aspects of the car including body, full interior, full driveline, i.e. engine, transmission, driveshaft, rear axle, full suspension, electrical system, etc. Special attention was paid to authenticity in detail, down to the original specification "Phoenix" whitewall tires. This 'matching numbers' car presents in a factory correct combination of Moss Green metallic (DB 834), Cognac (250) leather interior, Brown (8008) carpeting and a Dark Green (747) soft top. The exterior lighting of the car now shows in European specification for added appeal and as a nod to the original design brilliance of Paul Bracq. 	On January 29, 1886 Karl Benz patented the first automobile – the three-wheeled Patent-Motorwagen. Later in the same year just 60 miles away Gottlieb Daimler patented an internal-combustion engine and began with the construction of a four-wheeled horseless carriage. At the time neither Benz nor Daimler were aware of the other's work. The rest is (automotive) history. In commemoration of this milestone of engineering, Mercedes-Benz had produced a series of fully functioning replicas of the Benz Patent-Motorwagen in 2001 / 2002, mainly for museum and other public exhibit purposes.
