Re: [diesel_mercedes] Springs

Please clarify your statement.  Was it you or the car that was loaded to the gills, or both?

Monroe used to sell coil over shocks, those worked very well but lost their damping ability some what after 40,000 miles or 6 years....

Or , look up the coil spring P/N for a TD (Wagon) and fit those .

I vaguely remember one fellow here saying he fitted W116 (early 300SD) rear springs to his W123 Sedan to increase load carrying .

Or, maybe Tom @ he M-B Classic Center can order you in some rear springs for a 240DL, this being the Taxi version not sold in North America.....

Plenty of ways to go here, I'm betting a pair of Junk yard 300D springs are going to be slightly stiffer .

Me, I like a really firm ride but them I drive my old Mercedes' hellbent for leather most of the time, often loaded to the gills .

Any of you guys ever do anything in the way of increasing the springs.

We mainly use it (82 240d) to go to town once a month. hour drive And I
don't like drag-assing back with a full load.

If it was a Ford I'd just go in the catalog and get something a little
heavier and a little taller (maybe), but I don't have access to that
kind of data.

Napa seems to be pretty useless with mercedes.

Any ideas or info appreciated.

Fred
