Re: [diesel_mercedes] ] Cleaning MB - Tex

I've found Lye Soap or Biodiesel to be amazing. Don't leave it on paint
or plastic for long. It will remove everything. Plastics and fabrics
should be okay with 15-30 minutes before thoroughly washing/rinsing with
regular detergent and water. Paints, you can see the rag picking up the
paint color in minutes.

[diesel_mercedes] It's That Time Of Year Again

Cold weather always brings on a rash of master cylinder failures in older vehicles .

As I was on the steep down ramp into the garage @ work this morning , I felt a 'click' in the brake pedal and it dropped most of the way to the floor .

Luckily I had already placed the transmission in Park so it only lurched forward a little bit as I stamped the park brake .

I still have minimal brakes so I'll *carefully* drive it home on the park brake and my Son will come take me to get my Coupe down in Los Angeles .

I've already ordered in a new master cylinder and two cans of DOT 4 brake fluid , I can't remember where I left my pressure bleeder though .

Always something to do .

When I had the VW Shop , I'd always lay in 20 or so master cylinders just before November , all would be gone by New Year's .

I've used it to clean off grease and tree sap from clothes.

A while ago I found a like new rear seat cushion in a North Hollywood Pick-A-Part Junk Yard and bought it .

Some damnfool used it as a creeper on the next car in the rows and liberally smeared his greasy filthy hands all over it .

I have been unable to get a few of the ancient grease stains off it , I have use my regular Meguiar's # 40 , Aerosol Upholstery Cleaner , Simple Green , even some ETHER (starting fluid) on a rag , nothing doing ~ it won't budge .

At this point most of the seat looks like new , the padding is better than the padding in the 240D's rear seat now so I really want to use it .

Maybe some _Gasoline_ on a rag ? .

I'm stumped .

As long as I had the Meguiar's out I set up and cleaned the door card and arm rest I removed from my '84 300TD , those now look AS-NEW again , thanx to a soft bristle brush and some patience .
