This group provides a forum for owners and operators of diesel powered motorhomes and 5th wheel tractors to discuss mechanical issues, regulatory issues (US, Canada), ownership, insurance, campground accommodations, trip reports/suggestions, and other topics relevant to large RVs and the people who drive them.

I guess my concern is a connection would not line up. (transmission cooler) I have been told the newer tank with overflow is smaller but the tank with a cap is for older models..just doesn't make sense. As far as I can see the main hoses are all in the same place as mine. One more problem is the difference between a overflow and non overflow model. Not much. I've been told the overflow model is narrower. Can anyone please advise me as to weather these radiators are a simple drop in or must I modify? Lawrence Rhodes

Lawrence,
In my opinion, the overflow upgrade is worthwhile. When a car
overheats slightly, with the old style, you lose some of your
antifreeze. With the overflow version, it is saved in the overflow
container. If you can make the other connections work, converting to
the overflow type ,ay be worth the extra trouble.
(I was jealous when I saw a car with the overflow system.)

Lawrence,
Doing a little searching, it seems like the radiators swap in these forums:
http://www.mbca.org/tech-question/300d-na-300d-turbo-swap
" I chose to put the Turbo engine/trans/driveline/differential/radiator/etc., from the '82, into the '78 body."
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/197595-will-300d-turbo-radiator-fit-240d-manual.html
" It will fit but you will have to mount up the expansion tank its not a difficult job , I did that and used a bracket I made up out of scrap aluminum. Seems the hoses were different too, you'll have to check "
It seems like it'll work, maybe best to measure the radiator, size and connections first.
