[diesel_mercedes] fluid to prime fuel filter

 

Can one use alcohol to prime the secondary fuel filter on a 1980 300TD?  I'm running veg oil.  It really doesn't like to be charged when cold. (Never done this before)I usually do it hot.  I didn't fully fill the secondary filter with fluid.  Got a big bubble.  Ran the battery down.  Need to take the filter off fill and try again. [diesel_mercedes] two temperature sender looking things on my 240D

 

Guys:

I picked up a good running 240D last Friday and, like my 300TD, it has two temperature senders near the front of the engine. At least they look like temperature senders. I know one of them is for the temp gauge on the instrument cluster . . . but I don't know which one that is.  Does anyone here know which one goes to the gauge and what the other one is for?

Wish I could store it for you or anyone else, but my garage is so small I can't even work on the TD.  Well, I did find several people who are qualified to work on it from the 100 or so responses I got from Craigslist.  So  I do have a new home for it.  At least it doesn't have to go to the P&P yard...
