I went to Cosco (Spokane)yesterday. 100 mile drive(each way). Bought a Subaru too. Everything is changing. I'm never leaving home again. Got a bad headache. I'm too old for that stuff. Max

[diesel_mercedes] Re: tires for my 240D
[diesel_mercedes] need pap set of all relays for 86-87 300SDL
anyone got a spare set or could grab at them at the next pap(smear)?
[diesel_mercedes] Re: tires for my 240D
Depending on what your priorities are, initial price or cost over the long haul, I'm raving about the Nokian EnTyres on my 300D and 190D. Quiet and have very low rolling resistance. Got a noticeable bump in fuel economy in both cars.
Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: tires for my 240D
I need new tires soon too, so I'm waiting for Costco to put out a
Michelin discount coupon, then check what the other tire stores have in
comparison.

Citroen owned Maserati for about five years thus producing the "Citroen
SM" and its distant cousin the Maserati Merak.

[diesel_mercedes] Re: Recommended junkyard tools
the dolly is v useful. Esp in the PAP I go to, the MBs are at the very far end. I also leave most of the tools in the car and try to carry the ones I think I will need depending on what I want to get.

I leave the heavy stuff in the car and if I need my 3 pound hammer, I will walk out to the car and get it. In other words, I make two trips - a lightweight lookie loo, and then a heavy weight serious trip if I decide to pull a head or yank a motor.

[diesel_mercedes] Re: 1977 glow plug relay wanted and/or pinouts
I had one on my 77 240D. Had a toggle switch. No problems. Started everytime. Its easy to count to 5 or 10 and then start. Max

[diesel_mercedes] battery malfunction.
Would you believe that being low on battery water in one cell, would not allow me to start car.Once water was put in that cell,Bingo she fired right up.The maint free battery are not maint free.Check once a year for water in cells.
Re: [diesel_mercedes] Digest Number 4924
Yes I took it apart & got rid of the big volcano on the contacts. However I
think it's the capacitors that went bad. 34 years and 400k miles is plenty of
time for it to live. Instead of tearing apart the board and putting new
capacitors which BTW is just a guess. It's probably just cheaper and easier to
find the original relay and count to ten. I've seen them with the old style
glow plugs for 101 dollars. I just need the relay as I"ve gone to the fast
parallel plugs. Think a used one will last a while? Really don't mind if the
new ones are built as well as the old ones. 400k and 34 years is good for any
part. Lawrence Rhodes....

Just ask Brian to grab one on his up coming P-A-P jaunt .
Have you take the old one apart for cleaning & polishing of the contacts yet ? .
I know new ones are available making the amoratized price very low indeed .
I really don't think the push button Ford relay set up to be a wise idea except
in extreme cases because too short a heating interval means hard starting &
cylinder/injector coking , excessive starter wear , whilst over heating will
cause short glow plug life , this is why the early cars had the " Salt Shaker "
illuminating device and the later cars all went to the timer relay ~ in the long
run it's cheaper and more reliable .

Subject: [diesel_mercedes] Recommended junkyard tools
I am in need of some parts for a few of my cars. Antenna and some dash
trim for a 123, and a grill, tailight, seatbelt and dash trim for the
126. Tie rod for my jeep.
Since the pick and pull is having a half off sale, I figured it's a
good time to go. I don't get around as well as I used to, and I don't
really want to lug a big box of tools around with me.
Allot of you guys regular the places, what tools would you recommend?
