I was heating the house with bio/veggie oil, I'm moving to a place w/ brand new natural gas appliances (very efficient). So, I no longer need the oil. To get the oil, you must take everything, including additional 55 gal. drums (mostly plastic). I live in Southeastern Connecticut. You'll need a truck/trailer large enough to take all the barrels and the "cajones" to load the full ones. It's gotta go soon or I'll have to call the local biofuel dudes and I'd rather it go to someone on the forum. If your interested you can email me and we can exchange phone numbers and work out a time for you to pick it up. No charge, just come and get it.
ThanX - G. Frank.

[diesel_mercedes] Coolant heaters
Yes , the lower radiator hose one is both cheapest and easiest to install...
You needn't get s super high wattage one either ~ any heat in the water jacket will do .
Some times the older Diesels have a core plug block hear i there already , they're just missing the cords , the cords are cheap .
Look underneath the right side of the engine with a flashlight , if you see a plug , all you need is the cord .

Caitlin Pondered :
Block Heater 83 300SD
Sadly no block heater...yet. It's on the list, but I may not be able to get to
that until next year. We rarely need a car early in the morning. It tends to
warm up fast here...just fairly cold at night in the high desert. It's
definitely a "want" and of course if we really start having problems that might
get boosted ;)
What do you all recommend for block heaters? It doesn't get *that* cold here,
and it's mostly cold at night. What about the ones that go on .. what is
it....the lower radiator hose or something?
all ears...

[diesel_mercedes] Re: Alternator Fun
The valve adjust & learning the cold starting drill will get you going , main thing is : DO NOT let off the starter until ALL 5 CYLINDERS are firing ! . (this from Mercedes) .
If you wait and listen when you cycle the glow plugs , the relay clicks off _loudly_ some time after the yellow glow plug lamp goes out so waiting a bit longer after the lamp goes out but not until you hear the " CLICK " means they'll be hotter and will fire the engine sooner .
Get some Diesel Power from Power Service , it's in a white plastic quart bottle , OReilly's Auto Parts has it on sale RIGHT NOW ~ I was picking up spark plugs for my '59 Nash Metropolitan this morniong and noticed it i the sale sheets...
I'll try to post the particulars to - morrow .
Anything made by " Power Service ' , is THE GOOD STUFF , their products are sold in most Truck Stops .
GET THOSE VALVES ADJUSTED RIGHT AWAY ! .

I have to hit the accel a bit to get it to turn over, then need to keep it down just a hair until she warms a bit, otherwise she sputters out. When she reaches just above the 40c temp mark I can let go of the pedal and she idles fine.

> I'll go look up the "drill"...sounds like a treasure :) My friend with the 300TD (wagon) *is* definitely having cold (no)start problems. We changed out his glow plugs a few months back and that's what got me hooked in the first place ;) He's loaning me all his tools, so maybe I'll make him a copy and convince him to get the voltage regulator too...

[diesel_mercedes] Southern California Group Meetings
Hi everyone, I'm fairly new to the group and was curious if any diesel Benz group in southern California gets together regularly. I would love to attend a gathering if it occurs, and if it has not then maybe it would be nice to start having it regularly. Appreciate any info you guys can send my way.

Yeah, if you need answers to car, plumbing, electrical, a/c and carpentry questions, it's always best to use an account with a female name.
