IIRC ;
It's a # 1 but I always use a 90 degree screwdriver to get in there as my W-123's AC pipes are in the way of a regular screw driver .
You can find passable 90 degree screw drivers @ The .99 CENTS Store , just remember to always hold the screw driver *perfectly* in the head of the screw or it'll slip and ruin it .
Should that happen I know a handy trick , not pretty but it works .
It's best to pay close attention to the screwdriver placement instead .
I assume you've realized this job is best done from underneath as you lie on your back ? .

[diesel_mercedes] Re : Smoking
Yes ;
I'll need to get some (or make) adapters .
As the engine was rebuilt not long ago , I am hoping it's not the cause of the smoke ~ I'm still running the IP the car came with , gotta fix all the old " maybe " stuff before attacking the engine proper .

[diesel_mercedes] Re: Dammit
Surely the Guy replaced liners and pistons too.Thats why a proper rebuild,or rebuilt cost so much.Liners are cheap,but the pistons cost too much.
To Nate the rings still might have not seated yet.
Re: [diesel_mercedes] Dammit
what year is your caddy? My father had a 1970 with a huge engine... a sorts of smog pipes everywhere...I was getting rid o his effects recently and found the original 8-track tape that came with the car. It still works; I converted it to mp3. could it be the valve guide bushings in the head of your rebuilt were not replaced? --- On Thu, 7/19/12, Nate <vwnate1@yahoo.com> wrote:
