For 1/2 off , I'd give it a try .

if you're gentle and delicate , you can take the old switch apart , clean out the munge (it'll be ugly in there) , hand polish the contacts and it'll work another 30 years...

Thanx Rob .

I was looking longingly at my Diesel Sports Coupe to - day as I spent hours and hours and hours and....

Working all around it , not touching it except to move it back and forth ~ I just pushed it , didn't even start it up .

It's been in the 30°'s F here every night since 12/30 .

At least it's DRY .

66° F to - day as I was working , *perfect* weather for this old Yankee expat .

Like you mentioned, I thought all 123s did, and SDs had electronic.

The MB performed as it should for the trip up north, 800 miles at 23.5
