Brian, Congratlations on two low cost fixes. There is a plastic
pivot for the trans shifter. Mine has begun to go bad - that could be
your problem. Bobby

yeah and there's also the dealer, you'll pay about $3 but if you need it you need it.I think I used Autohaus.com in Arizona. Whenever I order $50 worth of "stuff" I usually throw in a bunch of foo-faw (nuts, bolts, fuses, etc.) to bulk out the order and save shipping costs. I think "cheap" was 50 cents or something.

Brian,
What was your source for cheap fuses? The standard auto houses here don't have anything that will fit properly.
The copper wire is working fine, but I still wonder what caused it to blow in the first place.

Problem: Transmission fluid squirting out like breast milk from an elephant. Solution: When the mechanic put the new starter & solenoid in, he took out the dip stick holder so he had more room to wiggle. He never got it back in properly so it did not seat. While driving, there was no fluid leak. When the car was stopped with engine off, a quart or two would leak from the poorly seated dip stick holder. Cost to fix - $-0- because smoke was coming from my nostrils.

Problem: No start. Good juice at the battery, lights and switches work fine. Solution: Starts in neutral and wiggling around park. Time to put her up and look at the neutral safety switch. Think some 28 year old plastic has disintegrated.
