Subject: [diesel_mercedes] Soggy Carpets
I get this every Summer when I run the R-12 charged AC ~ I know the evaporator drip tray's drain tube is kaputi but I never could *see* the dang thing so I never addressed it before .
Looks like the drain tue is a bit of foam with a coiled wire inside it, this rots away and AC condensate dribbles down the floor hump and wets the carpets .
I finally found some DIY photos and writeups , it doesn't look fun but what the hell , it really needs doing and I plan (!) to clean the evaporator proper as the same time so it'll flow more CFM's of air .
Naturally it's 100* F out .
