That’s incredible I've never heard of any kind of battery lasting that long. Max

Well I said I was a mistake to crow about getting 15 years out of a
Mercedes brand battery in my 83 240D. The battery quit yesterday. Dead
to the world. Unchargeable. I may have made a mistake but I went to
the local non-dealer Mercedes shop and bought a new "Mercedes" battery.
$170 but, based on the last one, prorated over the years it is about the
same as a cheaper battery. Found the battery tray half rusted out so I
ordered a "new" one on ebay for $89. Cheaper than the dealer. Yeah, I
could have fabricated a repair but I figure that's the price you pay for
never having to take the battery out of the car for 15 years. Some days
it's easier to open your wallet than getting the welder fired up.
