Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: Re : Spare Fuel Hose

Bright and sunshiny today when I filled up with 15 gallons for $65 - it has been a long time since I hit those numbers. Glad I don't have my 40 gallon tank in my Dodge maxivan anymore as I think I might have a heart attack over a $200 fillup. Yes, it did rain cats and dogs for 2 or 3 days, and more is coming. I have my trunk (deck) lid up to air things out this afternoon.

No Max ;

It's for when you're puttering along in " Ain't no funny furrin' cars 'round here " and you begin to smell Diesel fuel , pop the hood and discover a bloated & rubbery or rock hard & cracked hose spewing fuel and you limp it to the nearest partshaus / gas station / shop where goober shrugs & says : Wal , I dunno buddy , I mean jeeze , it's a furrin' car , I dunno nothin' 'bout no Diesels ..." .

I just ask if I can wash my hands after fixing my own damncar my ownself thankyouverymuchindeedy and motor on happily.....

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: High Amp Alternator bolt-ins for W123s

I've also read a number of articles describing the juice failure as being a Voltage Regulator failure, not an Alternator failure. Seems silly to pay $100 for an alternator (not to mention the tear down) when maybe some $10-15 regulator (more likely some cheap carbon brushes) might be the culprit.

SAAB 900 ~ it is (IIRC) a 97 ampere unit .

_HOWEVER_ ~ I have found that until you use the one , _specific_ BOSCH brand part number voltage regulator , they'll _all_ have low current and voltage output ~ by simply $pending the $14.00 (list price) on the correct BOSCH voltage regulator , your current , weeney 55 Ampere unit will do just fine and , it's a cinch to change this out , unlike changing the entire alternator...

I'd try this first , be aware your partshaus will try to B.S. you into using somerthing else " oh, they'real;l the same , I've been selling these for years with zero complaints " ~ BULLSHIT .

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: High Amp Alternator bolt-ins for W123s

Both rebuilders are located in the San Fernando Valley - NATE. You should see if the prices ($85-93) are solid, or can be "negotiated"
