Unless it's a TD, it only looks like the fuel tank. No gas here. The fuel tank is behind the seat. The thing that looks like a tank is where the spare tire sits. If it's a parts car hook whatever is under there.max

A rather non-mechanical friend looked under my 300SD and said the tow hook looked like it was attached to the gas tank. I figured it was an attachment point for shipping purposes and didn't know if it was strong enough to pull up onto a trailer. That would be ideal if it is!
