Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: Working Odo/Speedo cluster for '84 300 SD? (or a replacement gear wheel? :^)

Always nice to hear from Barton. Especially when one of my cars needs this same rehab effort. Time for another PAP run I guess so I can tear apart a few junkers.

Here's a link to a site I think I've seen discussed here before:

http://www.odometergears.com/products/Mercedes-Benz/126+Chassis+79-91+Diesel/53

This looks to be the correct gear size...

Mercedes called it a 280C coupe, and it was a 2-door (114 V28.) Total productions was 12,188

Isn't a 2-door a coupe and a 4-door a sedan?

Which is theirs? Does the 280 "C" imply it's a Coupe, or is that
something else?

[diesel_mercedes] Working Odo/Speedo cluster for '84 300 SD? (or a replacement gear wheel? :^)

Hi,

Sylvia's ODO/Trip meter finally stopped spinning @ 286,700 about 2 tanks of fuel ago...

For this morning's breakfast activity, I disassembled Sylvia's backup ODO cluster over coffee and, well...just coffee I guess....already knowing it too was busted, I pulled out the 3 pieces of plastic that comprise the original gear wheel and wondered if it was worth trying to repair or ditch and saw that someone appeared to have repaired or at least inventoried the part as a 3 initials were diamond pen etched into the plastic from who knows when?

If anyone knows a source for this gear wheel (VDO.com?) (going to ask my son to fab one on his maker-bot @ school for fun) - or was a working odo/trip meter you'd like to part with, pls get in touch....

[diesel_mercedes] '75 Mercedes-Benz 280C 2 door sedan, for sale near Modesto, CA

Some friends of my folks are selling their
'75 Mercedes-Benz 280C, so I'll post it to the group.
I don't now why they didn't put it on Craig's List. see ad below.
I haven't seen it, though it's supposed to be in great shape.
It's somewhere near Modesto, CA, in foothills maybe.
