Thanks Brian! I think I saw this once before as I look at those videos a lot and have bought several manuals from them before.....I think I will try cleaning my rheostat first and replace the light bulbs and see what it looks like..... [diesel_mercedes] PAP VISIT TODAY
Back to the Ontario PAP today to see what I could take off the only w123 300d turbo in the yard. Discovered the owners paperwork - seems he was an insurance broker in La Mesa who took good care of the car until the rear ender. First lesson (an old lesson really) is grab when you can. Since I first saw the car, the nice hood, the nice passenger door, and stuff like that have been taken. Left behind for the moment are the nice 4 chrome rims. I took the glove compartment backplate, glow plug relay, drivers side door pocket, some door vacuum goodies, a great drivers side rear tail light assembly, and other odds and ends.
Today was 1/2 price on drive train parts which means the $160 transmission could be had for $80. Seeing the owners paperwork, I am betting the trannie is in great shape, too bad I don't need it. I want the turbo, injector pump, starter & solenoid, and ??? But, my wife is not too happy with my parts yard, just hate to see good stuff get crushed or taken by someone else I guess.
Oh well, there is another 1/2 price day coming up. I think the moral of the story is this - if you see a w123 in the yard and it is clean, don't hesitate because the birds of prey will quickly pick it clean.

Figure it will take us 4 - 5 days driving time ( Nate would do it in 2) and some rest stops at friends and motels on the way. One side bene is that there are a couple of rust spots starting & I can get those fixed in Mazatlan, I know a really good bodyman. Looking forward to it, I just looove driving the Mercedes.
