[diesel_mercedes] How do you drive an automatic?

 

Weird question but it's been so long since I've driven an automatic tranny vehicle. Especially on long grades, do you drop it into S?

As an aside, I once had to get checked out in a frontend loader/backhoe, I looked at the guy and said "where's the clutch pedal?" The guy looked at me and asked if there were really clutches in heavy equipment?

And I don't think I'm that old! Or maybe I am.

I had this in high school (circa 1965).  I new it was special when a guy followed me home in his 300SL GULLWING, because he wanted to see MY car.  What a great afternoon talking two special cars.
